    Bussaco Forest Walking Experience

    The Bussaco National Forest (or Buçaco) is situated in the northwest of the Serra de Bussaco, at an elevation of 549 meters. Its unique altitude and geographical location create a distinct microclimate, characterized by mild temperatures, frequent rain, and morning fog, which contribute to its rich biodiversity. After being picked up in Coimbra, we will head toward the Bussaco National Forest. Entering through the Queen's Gate, we'll begin our circular trail, starting in the gardens of the Palace Hotel. We will follow part of the Cross Route, passing by the Paço de Caifaz, Fonte Fria, and Vale dos Fetos, before returning to our starting point.

Our first stop will be Sabugueiro, the highest inhabited village in Portugal, where you'll have the chance to meet the Serra da Estrela Dog, one of the oldest Portuguese shepherd dog breeds. As we continue our journey, we'll visit iconic locations such as Mondeguinho, the village of Manteigas, and the headquarters of the UNESCO Estrela Geopark. Experience breathtaking views at the Torre, the highest point at 1996 meters, and enjoy the serene beauty of the mountains. You'll also have the opportunity to taste the famous Queijo of Serra, the region's most typical cheese, along with local sausages.
